We've got about a week left of driving on this trip, over two thousand miles of road and about
100 gallons of veggie oil and diesel to get us back to our beloved Northwest. There is a lot to
digest. Marinate in. Recover from. It's been quite the feast of experiences and information the
last few months.
The route was altered but still went North to South, and Coast to Coast. About 13,000 miles will have
been covered, 95% of that done on pure waste veggie oil. This project is something that we'd like to
continue and follow up on, expand and is something Jessica sees as the foundation for a doctoral thesis.
Thank you to our friends and family for loving and supporting us on this journey (it's only just
starting too). I appreciate all of you that I have met along the way. Thank you for sharing some
vulnerable moments with us. Thank you also for your patience. I look forward to the next few weeks of
editing footage and getting stuff on line, but there is also an important election to be focusing on too.
Stay tuned!!
Special thanks to Lovecraft Biofuels in Portland! They made this trip possible, and now our
car is running on waste veggie oil!! Check them out, either in Portland (OR), Los Angeles or online: lovecraft.com
As Americans and as citizens of this planet we live in a unique and
crucial time. Our economy is shaky at best. Climate change is a
reality. Fear has become the primary emotion of the American people...
and we are doing fairly well at self-medicating so we can ignore it.
Mortgages are failing and the dollar is inflating. Cancers and the
like from toxins are at an all time high. But somehow, there is still
hope.
We have the technology and knowledge to solve much of the challenges
before us, especially in the green sector. Sustainable businesses have
the opportunity to both revitalize the middle class and small towns,
while addressing climate change and limiting it's effects.
We believe in a government by and for the people. We believe that we
can regain our agrarian and simple roots while leading the world in
new technology. We believe that we can provide a better world for our
children and not leave them with debts of environmental destruction
and a collapsed economic system.
My daughter and I have sold everything we own and with that money
acquired some good video gear and editing software. Now all that is
left is getting the car ready to hit the road, getting a few more gear
essentials and raising the funds needed to sustain this project. Our
focus is in telling the stories of those facing the most serious of
challenges we are facing as a people, to give instruction as to how to
start taking the steps toward change and to be a catalyst for the
desire to take ownership of our future.
There will be video shorts, and the trip
will culminate in at least one full length documentary with extras to
be available online and submitted to film festivals. We welcome emails
and communication, and will do our best to answer your questions
promptly.
We need stories that need to be told, music that needs to be shared,
places to stay, sustenance and the funds to see this project through
to it's completion. We need you!
Thank you for joining us!
